CLAREMONT, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/19/10 -- Cancer survivor Raylene Sausedo will be awarded $4999 in med spa procedures as the winner of the "Discover a Whole New You" contest during the 2nd Anniversary Celebration of Gia Laser Aesthetic Center in Claremont on July 23, 2010 from 5-9pm.
After battling stage 3 breast cancer, Sausedo underwent a masectomy, 8 rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and stem cell replacement while maintaining her positive outlook, saying, "I never asked 'why me,' I asked 'why not me?'"
Of her upcoming makeover, Sausedo says Gia Laser's gift will help her deliver her message of hope and inspiration. "For those I visit who are currently fighting cancer, they will see... that they too can get to that same point of health, wellness, and beauty on the inside and out," says Sausedo.
Sausedo, 56, of La Verne, now nearly 5 years cancer-free, currently volunteers with the Beverly Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society Reach for Recovery Group, working tirelessly to "take the fear out of the word 'cancer.'"
A retired dental assistant and the first female Weber Barbecue spokesperson, Sausedo gives her time each Sunday to visit and provide a French manicure to an elderly Claremont resident.
Sausedo will receive a complete non-surgical facelift after winning the contest with 353 votes from friends, family and loved ones on the Gia Laser website. Says daughter and nominator Janene Frank of La Verne, "[Sausedo] is a radiant light of life."
